Pricing & Valuations

RedBook offers a suite of pricing and valuation tools to help your business make more informed decisions for new and used vehicles.

RedBook uses a vast array of data to develop and build our pricing models, sourcing vehicle transaction level data from a wide variety of channels including:

• Exclusive access to the carsales Network; carsales.com.au Australia’s largest online vehicle marketplace
• Auction houses
• Dealer partners

The data we collect covers more than 2,000 unique models from all manufacturers. Our dataset is renowned in the Australian market, dating as far back as 1950 with over 10 million actual used car sales records to reference.

RedBook employs a robust statistical methodology to analyse and clean the data to ensure its quality, integrity, and completeness, led by a team based in Australia.

RedBook’s Real-Time Used Car pricing engine draws exclusive and authentic daily feeds from Australia’s largest online marketplace, the carsales network in addition to traditional wholesale data sources.

Accessed via an API, covering cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles, RedBook can reveal daily dynamic kilometre, margin and condition adjusted used car prices, factoring in or out market (option equipped) vs base vehicle valuations.

Incorporating published pricing scores and average days to sell indicators, RedBook’s RTV solution can assist in making decisions with confidence.

Our customers use Real-Time Valuations for numerous purposes including remarketing benchmarks, loan to value ratios, insurance agreed values, trade-in calculators to mention but a few.

RedBook is a leader in Residual Value Forecasting for cars in the Australian marketplace with over 70 years of in-depth knowledge and data to draw upon in addition to the vast amount of exclusive market intelligence available via the Carsales network and data sharing arrangements with the largest auction houses.

RedBook generate Residual Value positions for all official new releases in the Australian market, capturing minor and major updates to a vehicle’s model line-up. Forecasts are updated on a quarterly basis, or as model updates occur to ensure coverage of underlying market movements up to 5 years in advance with scope to go beyond.

RedBook can provide scenarios covering variable Price Types and Vehicle Conditions allowing for customisation to suit the application.

Most decisions in our industry are still made off today’s price, today’s wholesale, today’s retail, today’s book value. What PredictRV PRO does is shift that conversation forward, by showing where value is likely to go, not just where it is right now.

PredictRV PRO allows you to forecast a specific vehicle at a very granular level; make, model, year, variant and use realistic assumptions around kilometres per year and vehicle condition.

From there, we can return daily, monthly or yearly outlooks, depending on how the insight is being used. That forward visibility is powerful, because different parts of the industry use it in different ways as we explain under each of the specific customer channels.

What’s important is how this forecast is built. This isn’t scraped listing data, and it isn’t a loose interpretation of market sentiment. PredictRV PRO is deeply integrated into RedBook’s vehicle specification and pricing framework, combined with real world observed market behaviour taping into millions of historical data points.

The real advantage is speed and consistency. What traditionally required complex modelling, spreadsheets, or long range assumptions can now be returned almost instantly, using the same underlying logic across varied use cases.

So whether pricing risk, planning disposals, protecting margin, or simply challenging your internal assumptions, PredictRV PRO gives you a forward looking benchmark you can trust,  grounded in market reality, not guesswork.
